The other day the kids and I were talking about my Grandpa Jones who passed away when Karis was almost 1. Kelcie (who is 3, almost 4) mentioned that Grandpa Jones never got to see her. I told her that I wished he could have seen her, but that some day he will see her in Heaven; to which she replied, "No, he won't."
(Now, I have to explain that my children are the opposite of gullible. I'm not sure why. It is very hard to convince them of anything if they think they know better. So, that said...)
So I asked Kelcie, "Why do you think Grandpa Jones won't be able to see you in Heaven?" I really had no idea what she was thinking so I thought I was ready for just about any response... "Because people in Heaven can't see." she answered matter-of-factly. Okay...so of course I said "Yes, they can." "No they can't." she said again. So I asked the next logical question, "Why can't people in Heaven see?" She glanced up at me and said "Because they are wrapped in paper and they can't turn their heads."
After I was able to breathe again I was able to ascertain that she had seen a picture of Lazarus in a book and equated that with the attire of people in Heaven. I'm still not sure if she is convinced that I am telling her the truth and Grandpa Jones isn't wrapped in toilet paper...
